CARE Canada was established in 1946 as part of an international network bringing emergency relief to the people of Europe. CARE's commitment to humanitarian assistance continues to this day, and is complimented by a broad range of long term development programmes in water and community health, agroforestry and conservation, and small enterprise and income generation. 80,000 individual, corporate, foundation, community group, and service club donors across Canada support CARE's work.
CARE works with communities in need to improve living conditions. CARE is also there in the aftermath of disaster or social conflict, providing urgently needed food, water, and shelter.
Once the immediate crisis is over, CARE works with communities to re-establish stability.

The mission of the International Food Policy Research Institute is to identify and analyze policies for sustainably meeting the food needs of the developing world. Research at IFPRI concentrates on economic growth and poverty alleviation in low-income countries, improvement of the well-being of poor people, and sound management of the natural resource base that supports agriculture. IFPRI seeks to make its research results available to all those in a position to use them and to strengthen institutions in developing countries that conduct research relevant to its mandate.
Although IFPRI copyrights its publications and holds the intellectual property rights to its research output, it views final research output in published and unpublished form as "international public goods." As such it uses the most appropriate mechanisms to make the results freely available to all.
